SEANDOR was built for J S Scott of Rhu a member of Royal Scottish Motor Yacht Club. She was stationed on the Isles of Bute. In the early 1970s J L GEMMELL bought SEANDOR, she remained in his ownership for a good many years before being move to the South Coast. The current owner, a retired shipwright has meticulously restored and refurbished the vessel over recent years.
SEANDOR was built by Mountstuart Dry Docks Ltd, Avonmouth in 1961 to a traditional design of generous 1 inch (28mm) mahogany planking on steam bent oak timbers, copper nail and rove fastened. Teak keel and stem with an iroko transom. Teak superstructure. The fore, aft and side decks are teak laid, 1 inch thick. The stern locker can be accessed both from the aft deck and from the rear saloon. Neco electric anchor winch with own dedicated battery. 40 metres of new galvanised chain. A teak boarding ladder slips into brackets on the hull and is stowed inside.
Access to the chain locker from the fore cabin. Just aft of the FORWARD TWO BERTH CABIN is the HEADS to starboard connected to sea cocks and the holding tank. Opposite this on the port side is a wash basin with pressurised hot and cold water. Between the basin and heads is a teak grating sat on a stainless steel shower tray waste from which is pumped out of a shower sump. The AFT SALOON also doubles as two berths. The GALLEY forward of this houses a sink and draining board, hot and cold pressurised water, a new stainless steel cooker with 2 ring hob, grill and oven with a new 40 litre fridge 240/12v. In the WHEELHOUSE housed under the sole are two new polyethylene fuel tanks, total capacity approximately 250 litres complete with new pipework. Also under the sole is the 500 litre fresh water tank, stainless steel holding tank and the new calorifier.
50hp BETA DIESEL ENGINE approx. 1100 hours from new, complete with a PRM hydraulic gear box and a new instrument panel. The engine start battery, domestic battery and winch battery are all less than 18 months old. The hydraulic steering and engine controls have been replaced. New depth, speed & log instruments, new horn, two automatic bilge pumps and one hand operated. One automatic fire extinguisher in the engine bay and a hand held by the galley. The shore power consists of a consumer unit, three double sockets and a single socket. There is copious amounts of stowage throughout the boat including a hanging locker. All new upholstery though out, completed about six months ago.
