A classic 'Gentleman's Yacht', Shuna was built in 1935 by Hugh McLean & Sons at Govan in Glasgow. At that time she was the subject of much interest in the Yachting press and was featured at length in an article in the magazine The Motor Boat.
Built of pitch pine on oak frames she is nearing the end of a comprehensive re-build at a boat yard in North Wales, and is now near completion. Renovation includes new teak decks with a widened and refurbished wheelhouse.
The original engines have been replaced, and in 2005 twin 90 hp Beta diesels with a Beta generator were installed . The boat was fully rewired 2018. Cooking is electric and there is no gas on board. Cabin heating is provided by a Wallas system fitted 2018.
The article written in 1935 describes the internal layout at the time. The interior layout after the rebuild has been changed and is fully explained later. A copy of this article written under the by-line Binnacle is available.
We have details of her history and all her past owners.
For serious enquirers, we can provide a comprehensive photographic record of the process to re-build her to her present state. As will be seen from the pictures in that record the work so far carried out has been done to a very high standard, by a dedicated owner and experienced craftsmen at a yard which is highly regarded as expert in the building and repair of wooden vessels.
Shuna is on the Historic Ships Register.

The fore cabin leads off from the saloon. It has two berths with mattresses covered in blue crushed velvet, storage and a vanity unit with washbasin.
Returning through the wheelhouse a companionway leads aft to the galley with a new ceramic hob.
Opposite the galley is a twin berth cabin with mattresses covered in blue crushed velvet, and storage below the berths.
Adjacent to this cabin is the heads with a new electric sea toilet. A new holding tank is fitted. Opposite the heads is the shower room with place for a washbasin in a vanity unit and space for a shower. This cabin requires fitting out by the new owner.
