Dorothea, 27ft Gaff Yawl built along the lines of the West country Falmouth Quay Punts. 27ft 3ins. hull length 5.66 tons registered weight. Built and designed by W.E.Thomas of Falmouth in 1909. Carvel planked Pitch Pine on Oak.
Part of her provenance was a previous owner being Mr Trafford Leigh-Mallory in the 1920's , he was in charge of the 12 group in the Battle of Britain and the UK and American Forces at the time of the Normandy Landings.
She underwent a major restoration 12-14 years ago.
some of the teak used in her restoration came form the Tower Bridge!...

Below Dorothea is fitted out in Oak, except for the cabin sole which is Ash.
Solid fuel stove is set, portside amid ships in the Open plan cabin.
From the companionway steps there is a quarter berth starboard. a bench seat to perch on at the navigation station and chart table. Engine access is behind the companionway . There is more headroom over the steps with the doghouse.... This means that one can stand to do the washing up, bronze manual water pump. feeds the galley sink. A gimbled, double burner hob, grill and oven..going forward two opposing settee bench berths with stowage behind. there a multifuel stove ( presently not plumbed in)the mast meets the keel through the deck. Up in the fore peak is a double berth the potaloo is sited beneath the berth.)

She has small opening ports her topsides. Porta loo which stows under forward berth.
Carvel planked long keel hull. Pitch pine on oak frames.
Teak laid deck laid on top of 2.5 inch marine ply epoxied deck, natural scrubbed finish. Deep open Aft cockpit. A small doghouse rise over the companionway.
