Designed in 1927 for the Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club by Johan Anker, the Dragon class soon established itself as an international class, with fleets across Europe and Scandinavia. The initial concept was for a Bermudan-rigged keelboat that provided rudimentary accommodation, and in this way could be used to sail and sleep on, from one regatta to another, as well as cruising for pleasure.
