He had been trained at the International Boatbuilding Training College (IBTC) in Lowestoft, and has done a considerable amount of work on her. She has a laid... read more
In 1958 Illingworth opened his own yacht design business, in partnership with Angus Primrose. Together they created some of the most attractive and weatherly boats of the era. Illingworth’s role was to conceive the design in general, the rig, and the details of deck and interior layouts, while Primrose gave the hulls their sweet and efficient lines for speed, good sea-keeping and beauty. Many of the firm’s early clients were French. Illingworth spoke fluent French and loved the country. He encouraged and assisted in the founding of the enormously influential Glenans... read more

Nada, built by William Fife III in 1930, is without question one of the finest classic Fife sailing machines you can purchase. As quoted by Uffa Fox in 1932 “They will go to windward in heavy weather, for NADA in October 1932, left traders weatherbound in Dover and sailed the whole way to Newhaven to windward in 12 hours, passing three-masted schooners who were anchored under Dungeness, sheltering from the strong westerly wind”.
Nada has had an eclectic life, traveling the world and spending 20 years abounded in the Antiguan sun, she was saved and comprehensively rebuilt by Wood... read more
